Gecko is on a mission to transform how universities connect and engage with students, and we’re looking for a Sales Development Representative (SDR) to help fuel our growth. You’ll be the first point of contact for potential customers, opening doors, building relationships, and setting the stage for our sales team to close deals. You’ll work closely with our sales and marketing teams to ensure a steady pipeline of opportunities, driving the growth of our business.
📍 This is a UK-based remote role, working flexibly to align with US East Coast hours. Most work will occur during UK daytime hours; however, engagement with US prospects may necessitate some evening availability. This could entail a start time of 10 or 11 am and a finish around 6 or 7 pm, with occasional later work.
What You’ll Do ✅
- Hunt for new business: Proactively prospect and initiate contact with key decision makers at US-based Colleges and Universities via phone, emails, LinkedIn, and other channels, to generate new business opportunities.
- Engage and qualify leads: Identify and qualify both inbound and outbound leads, understanding their needs and pain points.
- Book high-quality meetings: Secure discovery calls and product demos for our Account Executives (AEs).
- Refine your approach: Tailor messaging and outreach strategies to different personas within higher education.
- Stay ahead of trends: Continuously research and stay up to date on industry trends and competitor insights to inform outreach strategies.
- Master the tech stack: Use Salesforce, Outreach, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator to track and optimise outreach efforts.
- Be part of the bigger picture: Work closely with sales and marketing to ensure a consistent and high-quality sales pipeline.
- Leverage events: Set up meetings ahead of major industry conferences and events, secure meetings for our Account Executives (AEs), attend global industry events, and follow up post-event.
- Performance-driven: Meet and exceed personal sales activity targets, contributing to the overall team’s success.
What We’re Looking For 🔍
- Proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Sales-driven mindset: You love a challenge, embrace rejection, and push forward.
- Previous experience in SaaS or software sales, preferably in a sales development or business development role (1-2 years preferred).
- Resilient & adaptable: You can handle objections and turn them into opportunities.
- Tech-savvy & process-driven: Comfortable using CRM and sales tools (Salesforce, Outreach, etc.).
- Strategic thinker: Able to research, identify, and reach out to key decision-makers effectively.
- Comfortable working a flexible schedule that ensures meaningful engagement with US-based prospects, balancing workload effectively while maintaining work-life balance. while being UK-based.
- A natural communicator: You’re confident, engaging, and persuasive.
